University Studies: University of the Witwatersrand, during which he played for and later became the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Wits University Football Club (now called BidVest Wits FC. Transferred studies to Unisa, and graduated in BCom (Business Management and Transport Economics), UNISA.

Vocational Education (Germany): Industriekaufmann (IHK Nuremberg, Germany) and Stammhauslehre Siemens AG. He has a strong commercial administration background after training and working in the Federal Republic of Germany over four years (1988 – 1992) with the Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft e.V. (Cologne), Kuehne & Nagel Luftfracht GmbH (Frankfurt International Airport), Lufthansa German Airlines Air Cargo Centre (Frankfurt International Airport), and Siemens AG (Cologne).

Language Education (Germany): Sam is fluent in German Language and has the following German Language Qualifications: Diplom Deutsch (Studiengemeinschaft Darmstadt, Germany), Zertifikat Deutsch Stufe Fuenf (Carl Duisberg Sprachzentrum, Germany).

Corporate Experience (South Africa): This international experience was enhanced by the local experience obtained while working for the Johannesburg Branch of the Black Management Forum (BMF) as a branch manager, Siemens Ltd. as a Commercial Administrator, Absa Bank Group as a Group Consultant: Employment Equity and Sasol Ltd as Manager of Centre of Expertise Group Diversity Management.
