Creation of harmony. It is imperative for us to create the environment that is harmonious to our members, staff, players, management and friends. We believe that we are productive, due to the friendly and harmonious environment that have created for ourselves.
Inter-cultural understanding. As Africans, our cultures and traditional beliefs and practices form the corner stones of our beings. Each of us is free to promote and practice his or her culture at Cometsa, as long as this is done without undermining other colleagues’ cultures. We actually encourage the teaching of each other’s cultures to benefit the organization.
Entrenchment of professionalism. Everything we do, we do with absolute professionalism. We do not believe in mediocrity. We teach all our members to practice this value in everything they do.
Encouragement of creativity. In order to ensure that our organization and its members continue to grow, we encourage the practice of coming up with the new way of doing things, on an ongoing basis. We challenge each other to come up with new methods, tactics and thinking patterns. Our members participate in monthly management and leadership development programmes to learn how to become creative. We use the literature by the world class leadership gurus like John Maxwell, Steven Covey, etc.
Commitment to efficiency. We do not believe in performing tasks just to meet the deadlines or just to complete them. We believe in being economical in performing our tasks. A Resource, Equipments and Infrastructure Management are one of the management functions in our organizations, especially in the sport clubs. We teach it in our monthly Leadership Development Programme.

E = Entertainment (incl. Music). Cometsa Mafrika Development Agency develops talent in modern, traditional, and global entertainment and music.
L = Leisure. Our country, South Africa, has got the best weather in the world. As a result the leisure industry holds great future for the country. Our organization, Cometsa Capacity Development Agency, focuses on the commercialization of the leisure projects as part of the entrepreneurship development programme for our members. This will help in the creation of jobs and poverty alleviation in South Africa.
E = Education. All our projects and programmes are done to support the education of our members and the people of South Africa. Education is the central part of our programmes. We have realized that the level of literacy in our country is not sufficient to improve our competitiveness level in the world. It cannot be ignored. Our sportsmen and women need education to be able to participate in global sports and be employable beyond their sports days.
A = Arts (inc. Culture). Africans are naturally gifted in arts. We would like to make sure that this gift is enhanced and preserved. So far the letters have gone out to all the municipalities in Gauteng Province, Limpopo Province, North West Province and Mpumalanga Province. 1. FC Cometsa Goldstones 1997, alias Smart Boys & Girls, “Up The Maestros”, is a soccer organization that equally values theoretical and practical knowledge of the game. The founding date of the organization is the 1st August 1997. This day is celebrated annually as the anniversary date.
The organisation has two head offices: 1st head office is at Germiston in Gauteng Province, and the 2nd head office is at Jane Furse in Limpopo Province.
The name explains the uniqueness of the organization. It is pronounced as First FC Cometsa Goldstones Nineteen Ninety Seven. It emphasises the fact that this is the first organization of its own kind in South Africa. It is made of both boys and girls. Hence, the nick name: Smart Boys & Girls.
The word Goldstones originates from SC Goldstein, which is the name of the soccer club that the founder, Sam Tsima, played for at Frankfurt (am Main) City in the Federal Republic of Germany. The word Cometsa stands for Consulting Methods By Sam Tsima.
Sam Tsima Foundation 2007
association incorporated under section 21 (registration nr 2008/000278/08), www.samtsima.com , was established by Mr Sam Tsima, in January 2007, to preserve his Cometsa legacy through his contribution to the development of individuals, communities and deserving organizations and the following Cometsa development organizations:

- Cometsa Sports Development Agency
- Cometsa Mafrika Development Agency
- Cometsa Capacity Development Agency

Mr Sam Tsima has always been passionate about development work. His love for development work became evident during his early years while growing up at the small village of Moripane, Jane Furse, Limpopo Province. He established his own football club called Mosehleng Shinning Stars FC.
He experienced individual, community and organizations being transformed through development programmes, over years.
Sam was a beneficiary of development programmes, notably a scholarship from the South African Council of Churches, at high school, and Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft e.V. in Germany, which has now transferred its programmes to the Internationale Weiterbildung und Entwicklung gGmbH.
He has been able to apply the knowledge he acquired through development programmes in the transformation of private and public companies, e.g. (i) Employment Equity Programmes (ii) Skills Development and Vocational Training Programmes. (iii) Diversity Management Programmes. (iv) Transformation and Change Management Programmes. (v) Black Economic Empowerment Initiatives from Human Resources Perspective. The main objective of Sam Tsima Foundation 2007 is to make sure that the commercial interests of 1.FC Cometsa Goldstones 1997 and other Cometsa enterprises do not overshadow the development work that Sam is so passionate about. Sam Tsima Foundation 2007 will mobilise resources (financial and non-financial) to make sure that the above mentioned Cometsa beneficiary organizations continue Sam’s development work into the future.

He nicknamed his Cousin, Dan Phaphedi Patjane, " Ten-Ten " after the Great Petros Ten-Ten Nzimande of Kaizer Chiefs.
1979: Sam joined the Senior team, Moripane Lekatika F.C. This team was under the leadership of Sam's late uncle, Zebra Mathebe Patjane. Sam started as a player for the B-Team and the goalkeeper for the A-Team.

(Cologne, Germany).
1988: On the 1st May 1988 Sam left for the Federal Republic of Germany to undergo Business Management Training. He did his German Language training at Carl Duisburg Centres Language College in Cologne, Nord-Rhein Westfalen. His in-company training was done at the Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Kuehne & Nagel Luftfracht GmbH at Frankfurt International Airport, in Hessen. During his stay in Frankfurt am Main, he played for SC Goldstein Frankfurt. This is the team after which 1.FC Cometsa Goldstones 1997 is named (Goldstones = Goldstein). He returned to South Africa on the 31st October 1989 but immediately decided that he was going to go back to Germany.
1990: On the 22nd September 1990 Sam returned to the Federal Republic of Germany under Siemens AG Corporate Management Training Programme. He was again stationed at Cologne. He immediately rejoined SC Goldstein Frankfurt, while based in Cologne. He travelled to Frankfurt am Main every Friday by Deutsche Bundesbahn (German Railway) and returned every Sunday evening. During the weekend he would stay at the flat of his Greek teammate (Gregor Asymiadis) of SC Goldstein Frankfurt.
1992: The travelling from Cologne to Frankfurt, studies and work became too much for Sam. He asked for a transfer from SC Goldstein Frankfurt to Köln Neubruck. This is the last team in the Federal Republic of Germany that Sam played for until he returned to South Africa on the 18th September 1992.

Patrick and Sam were neighbours at Algarve Flat in Hillbrow cnr. Banket and Jager streets, Johannesburg. It was after this game that Sam shared with Patrick Bapela his dream and the promise he made to his former teammates at SC Goldstein Frankfurt, namely to form a football team in South Africa and name it after SC Goldstein Frankfurt. Patrick and Sam joined Mighty Stars F.C. of Langlaagte, Johannesburg, as potential co-owners and possibly ultimate owners. They invited Richard Masenya, Lovemore Bapela, Patrick Tsima and Mabushe Tsima as new players to Mighty Stars, F.C. The team was to be renamed Crown City Goldstones F.C. They had a problem. Their sponsor had lost interest in them, and taken away his balls and jersey. The new group assembled and resumed training at Parktown Boys High School. Sam formalised the new team by interviewing all the players and making them sign membership forms. He named the team COMETSA MANAGEMENT t/a 1.FC COMETSA GOLDSTONES 1997. Access to youth talent pool: the corporate members of Cometsa are guaranteed to have access to the well groomed youth that forms part of the future talent pool.
Development projects identification: Cometsa programmes and projects are spread all over the country, especially in the rural areas. Some of these areas are not easily accessible for most companies and organizations, and yet are designated the priority areas for economic development by the Government. This means that they are the future growth markets. Cometsa is well positioned to take its corporate members to these regions and contribute jointly to their development.
Creation of employment brand: Cometsa corporate members have the opportunity to partner with Cometsa and achieve the pre-emptive advantage in the communities of Cometsa. When the youth of Cometsa identify with the company, they will want to work for this company when they become ready to join the world of work.
Corporate brand positioning: the company is also able to use its association with Cometsa in promoting its brand and that way makes it easy for its sales teams to sell the products and services in the Cometsa communities. The members of Cometsa are already a captive market for the corporate members. The data base becomes freely available to the fully paid up corporate members of Cometsa.
Realization of Corporate Social Investment objectives: this is one of the elements of the score card in the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment. By contributing in the form of a corporate membership and supporting community development projects of Cometsa the company is able to add its contribution to the scores. The corporate members who do not have the capacity to run their own CSI projects are welcome to finance some of the projects of Cometsa and count this as their CSI projects.
Creation of globally oriented culture: the members of Cometsa are very much globally oriented. Cometsa runs a number of international culture and language programmes. The Cometsa Global Languages Institute is a division of Cometsa Capacity Development Agency with the main objective to promote global languages and culture, including South African languages and cultures. Cometsa corporate members benefit by inviting Cometsa members to its programmes and interact with their employees. This contributes toward creating a culture that is receptive to other people’s cultures. The concept of global diversity and inclusion becomes a practical reality.
Access to international development programmes: Cometsa helps its corporate members in accessing international development programmes. Cometsa has partnerships with global organizations, especially of the German and Italian origin. These programmes are run both in South Africa and abroad. The programmes range from culture, music, art and culture to business and sport.
Leadership development for future needs: Cometsa concerns itself with the future of the individuals, organizations, communities, the country and the nations of the world. Our vision: The Mind - The Journey - The Destiny says it all. We apply our minds to the journey that takes us to our destiny. We are also concerned about leaving a lasting legacy for the generations to come. By joining Cometsa the company is making its own contribution to the future of the world. Cometsa is proud to be a facilitator of this worthy course.
Cultural awareness: The nation that is not aware of its diverse cultures suffers many unnecessary tensions among its citizens. Unfortunately this has become a matter that must also be dealt with at the work place. Recruiting staff from the Cometsa members brings benefits to the corporate members of Cometsa since our members are already culturally aware and respect their and other people’s cultures.
Learning of global languages: Cometsa Global Languages Institute partner with other multinational institutes in the teaching and learning of global and local languages. We are proud of this tradition. We would like to share this experience and tradition with our corporate members, and even offer some of our programmes to our corporate members. Our partner institutes are more than willing to design tailor made programmes for our corporate members.
Capacity building: Cometsa Capacity Development Agency is our unit responsible for developing capacity among our individuals (members), communities, organizations and the country. It has a number of institutes that are addressing the various elements of Cometsa “RELEASE” Concept:
Positive legacy: Cometsa believes that we all owe it to our future generations and therefore should invest our resources in projects that will help in sustaining our country. Not all companies will be able to address this on their own. Over the past ten years, since 1st August 1997, Cometsa has developed an insight into the areas that are vulnerable due to the actions of mankind, especially environmental issues like renewable energies and can help our corporate members in conceptualizing programmes to address these areas. This will ensure that our corporate members leave positive legacy for the future generations.
Openness to continuous learning: our corporate members support believe and commitment to the continuous learning. Our organization is a learning organization and rubs positively on our corporate members.
Service excellence: Cometsa is thinking ahead in terms of the future needs. As our country becomes a key player in the world and deals directly with the challenges of globalisation, we must make available services to our corporate members. Cometsa Development Agencies Central Administration is planning to run internal and external shared services to help the corporate members who do not want to worry about administrative work of the development work. This is the benefit that will certainly justify the yearly corporate membership payable to Cometsa Friends & Supporters Club.
Ability to adapt to new environments: we help our corporate members in adapting to new environments that we expose them to. Through Cometsa Mafrika Development Agency and Cometsa Sports Development Agency we bring fun to this complex issue. Should our corporate members want to run art, culture, music and sport programmes, we are always ready to make the members of our Sports Development Academy, and Cometsa Mafrika Band available to facilitate the projects for them.
